I bought this 2006 checy cobalt 2 months ago at clear choice auto sales dealership in carlisle and i told them about the steering was rough when i was turning to the right but easier to turn to the left when i took if for a test drive. they took it in there shop and said it was the tire pressure. they then added air to the passengers side front tire then and i noticed that it still was the same when i drive it home. i then found out that i have the 2 recalls for the key and ignition switch so i took it to lawerance chevrolet and had them replace them and i also had them check on the problem i was having. they said that it was the power steering module column that was the issue but it was going to cost a hole loy of money to replace it. i didnt have the money to get it replace but i knew that there was a recall for the cobalts steering. i ask them if it was still covered under recall and they said it was already canceled. idk what to do i really dont want to spend money for this issue when its a recall already and i just bought the call for $5,500. i my steering wheel also shakes when im driving on the highway and when i hit the brakes.

Starting on sunday i was driving down the highway and my car suddenly shut off. the power steering light flashed and then the service air bag light as well. i pulled over, stopped completely, and turned my car back on and took the back roads home. after turning the car back on the warning lights on the display were gone. the next day i was on a different highway and the same thing happened except when i turned my car back on the service air bag light stayed on until i returned home. i had the recall on the ignition switch replaced last year. *tr
I was driving home from work on the highway. when it suddenly became difficult to make a lane change. i exited the highway and it became clear that something was wrong with my steering. after getting home safely i found out about other gm owners issues with the electrical power steering and wondered why a recall was never issues for my vehicle. *tr
The ignition switch locks up after i have put my vehicle in park. i then have to start my car again, foot on brake, move my shifter to neutral, back to park and hopefully im able to turn the key to off. the steering is a pain at times to deal with. especially at slow speeds it jerks sporadically. also im not sure if this issue has been recalled but i've read many forums of the ac leaking on the passengers floor leaving puddles of water. my car does this, through car washes and when it rains. i've also noticed that you can hear the remaining water flow left behind in the dashboard. i only had this car since november 2014 and have so many problems. if possible, can all recall repairs be performed on my car to prevent any issue in the future? *tr

Lets see my electric steering is messing up it wont turn right sometimes need to be recalled before i have an accident. *tr
When driving the vehicle and going over bumps, there is a clunking noise from the steering column. overall, the steering column appears loose, the steering wheel is hard to turn left or right and clunks as well. took it to two different ase certified mechanics and was told that the steering is loose inside the column itself. steering is not responsive to turns as it should be. *tr
While leaving from a parking lot my power steering gave out. it is electrical and affects the rest of the electrical in the car. transmission feels affected as well. when changing gears the engine will drop drastically creating a change in momentum and sending the driver and passenger forward. from reading online this seems to be an ongoing issue with 2005 and 2006 chevrolet cobalts. *tr
As i was driving, the message center displayed power steering. it became difficult to steer. this is a recall that has been closed and i believe that it should be opened again to customers having the same issue. i would like to see gm assist with this issue. *tr

We were driving down the road in oct when all of sudden dash lights up flashing dinging going crazy the car keeps jerking forward like its trying to shift into a gear for the whole 40 min drive it drove fine on the way home . it has done this maybe three times since the other day i was driving my grand children to school when the car started to jerk forward then just stopped running and lost power steering , in a three way intersection , my car finally started up after about 10 mins. in oct when the car started having problems i called our dealer they said the car had all the recalls done that it would cost 90 to check it out and that they wouldn't be able to find anything unless it was having the issues at the time they had the vehicle i ended up calling gm about the problem only to be told i am sorry that you had a stressful morning we can give you a case number and will get back to you within 24 to 48 hours may car now sets at my daughters house i will not be driving this car for fear i may injury or kill my grandchildren or others this vehicle id a death trap gm needs to own up and buy out these vehicles so upset right now shame on them how many lives need to be lost before they do something this time? *tr

My power steering went out on my 2006 chevy cobalt while driving in a parking lot. this resulting in an increased difficulty steering at low speeds. i took it to a local chevrolet dealership for repair and although they replaced the power steering motor, which was under a recall, they also need to replace the whole steering column assembly since it too was damaged, as replacing the motor did not fix the issue. the dealership could not confirm or deny that the issue of loss of power steering being the result of the motor failing or the steering column failing. they also could not confirm or deny if it was the motor failing that caused the failure in the column to need replaced as well. if it was indeed not the motor that failed and instead the steering column failing due to manufacturer error does that not produce a similar issue of safety as the failing of the motor (which is currently recalled). *tr
My power steering failed at 80k miles. i tried to fix it myself but noticed it's electronic and can't be fixed unless you bring it to a dealer. i check online and lo and behold, there's a recall! excuse me if i wasn't the least bit surprised. and guess what, just like my former recall for the faulty fuel pump, my car's year wasn't included in the recall! i'm trying to get reimbursed for this but it's like pulling teeth talking to some foreign person with a thick heavy accent who doesn't want to reimburse me for the repair. i'm so sick of gm! why don't they just stop selling cars because they're no good at it. how many lives must they toy with before they realize this!? needless to say, i will keep pursuing them until i get reimbursed!

The first time this particular problem began, because there have been oh so many others, i turned on the car and a power steering messaged appeared. there was no check engine light or anything else, just the "power steering" message. this happened intermittently for about 2 months. then one evening while accelerating from a stop light, the car started to hop, the "power steering" message came on with a dinging alarm, the car slowed down to about 5 mph, and the power steering was gone, along with the breaks. it was extremely difficult to turn or stop the car. we were able to get it off the road, where we turned the engine off and on a few times. each time with no success in fixing the issue. finally after letting it rest for about 15 min, we were able to turn it on and it returned to normal. since then, intermittently the "power steering" message comes on and dings, the car hops, and the power steering goes out. i took it to the dealer and they said the steering column needs to be replaced at a cost of $800. i can't understand this, since my steering column has rarely been move, maybe a total of 30 since i bought the car in 2006. i am the original owner and very few people, outside of myself, have driven this car, lending to minimal adjusting of the steering column. *tr
I was turning at a green light and my steering locked up and caused me to go over a median causing damage to my transmission pan, front engine mount. *js
The power steering light comes on causing the vehicle to not want to stop and the back end to push forward. steering gets tight. i just bought this car 2 months ago it has a power steering motor recall and to me this car should not have been sold to anyone. it's dangerous..i took it back to find out what it was and this is what they told me today 9/16. i bought this car at a dealership. now what do i do? *tr
While driving the car the power steering goes out and makes the car hard to drive. the steering pump has been changed 2 times since original recall, but yet the problem still exists. *tr
