On 04/15/2005 car was taken in to dealership for leaking trunk and water in trunk. gm had issued a service bulletin 03-08-66-009, dated july 30, 2003 for models 1998-2003 cadillac seville to replace the trunk seal with part # 25762219 weatherst 12.269 k. the work was completed per the bulletin, but on 02/11/2011 car was taken in again for water in trunk, with 35330 miles. if the improved part from sb 03-08-66-009 was used and installed by the selling dealership, how do you explain the leak reoccurring within a similar time frame as the original failure? i realize most people do not keep their vehicles more than 10 years, but current owners of used models would also be impacted and unknowingly pay for the additional repairs. it does not appear that gm actually corrected a known defect they had in this model cadillac with their improved part.
