Recently reported ELECTRICAL SYSTEM problems on 2007 Buick LaCrosse

A few times the headlights went out . driving on two lane road once was close to head on accident . i did extensive testing to find that the hdm low beam head light relay manufactured by i think delphi was the problem . i went to auto supply bought the heaviest duty relay i could find . i replaced it an problem was solved . this was back in may of 2014 . then in january 2015 i received recall for this problem . i have contacted g.m. several times . i read where they state if you have paid for the repair they will reimburse owner for the repair . this is black and white plain and simply . i submitted form , receipts , ect . according to their requirement on the recall letter . does not say i have to wait for several more letters or several years it is on their recall letter .everything they asked for to the standards . while on vacation message to call . after many calls again i was told i have to wait for second recall letter to get reimbursed . she stated i have to take it to dealer . why so i can have another defective relay installed . not going to happen just reimburse me for the claim i submitted . i can't return a one year old relay that is far better than their defective relay .they can't figure a remedy out yet . it has been a year now and i am still waiting to be reimbursed because i did not receive the second recall notification because they can't figure this out . driving a car at night without headlights is not safe and neither is putting one of their defective relays back in it . this relay has been noted to not only fail , but it can melt causing wire harness to melt at a replacement cost to approach $ 2,000 and an possibly an engine fire and that cost very high or vehicle replacement . just pay me the money owed ...

While driving at night both headlights failed to work without warning headlight relay failed several incidents posted on line. after arriving at work was unable to exit the vehicle because both inside and outside door handles failed to open the door. car is currently at a body shop attempting to open the door. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 buick lacrosse. the contact stated that while stopped at a traffic light, the low beam head lights failed as the windshield wipers activated independently. the contact mentioned that smoke was also emitting from the engine compartment. the contact discovered that the smoke had originated from the fuse box, which had caught on fire. the fire was extinguished but the fire department was not contacted. the vehicle was not taken to the dealer for inspection or repairs. the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. the vin was not available. the failure and current mileage was 82,000.

The low beams on this vehicle had been flickering on and off at night for a few days. then the low beams would not come on at all on the night of december 2, 2012, high beams worked but the smell of burning plastic filled the car and i immediately shut off the engine. upon inspection i found one of the relays, presumably the low beam relay, burned and melted inside the fuse block causing a small fire inside the fuse compartment which fortunately contained the fire but destroyed the entire fuse panel (block). this appears to be a well documented and common problem on the 2007 buick lacrosse and yet there is no recall. this is a top tier safety concern as it is only a matter of time before there is a fatality associated with this safety issue. i had the car repaired at a buick dealer for a total of $616.15. this type of failure should not happen on a vehicle of this age or mileage, yet i am reading that i am not the only person to experience this same exact issue. i am researching all claims and considering a class action lawsuit to have this problem corrected. i feel as though gm owes me my $616.15 back and should correct this issue via a mass vehicle recall. *tr

Was driving at night, vehicle lights went dim, then out completely. pulled over to side of road. smelled fire, opened hood, smoke coming from fuse block / box under hood. looked at fuse block and several relays were melted and had melted a portion of fuse block. there are several other complaints like this posted online. *tr

Tl* the contact owns a 2007 buick lacrosse. while driving approximately 65 mph, the vehicle suddenly stalled. after restarting the engine, the vehicle operated as normal. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who indicated that the key caused the failure. the key was replaced. in addition, the abs/traction control warning light illuminated, the high beam and low beam head lights would not operate. the vehicle was taken to the dealer who was unable to determine the cause of the failures. the manufacturer was notified of failures. the failure mileage was 60,000.

I have had problems with my low beam headlamps for a couple of days now not turning on at night or they begin to flicker on and off causing me to drive with my high beams on.. but today i smelled an electrical fire as i parked and exited my car and saw smoke coming from under the hood and it turns out the relay for the headlamps was burning and melted. i removed it but it caused damage to the other relays next to this one and melted the actual fuse center. i haven't checked for possible damage to other components of my car yet but i will in the morning... this looks to be a common problem with this make of vehicle and still no recall has been made.. *tr

Night highway driving the low beam headlights suddenly go out. bad. high beams are ok. fog lights are ok fortunately so i could drive home safely. turn signals normal. only the low beam headlights appear to be affected. they resumed working the next vehicle use, the next day. *tr updated 9/19/13 *cn updated 09/24/2013 *js

While driving down the highway one night the low beams suddenly went out. i was force to use the high beams until i could pull over. inside the car i could smell something burning, something electrical. once i pulled over i notice smoke coming from under the hood and that the fuse block under the hood was on fire, which hold fuses and relays. the two relays that was affected were the low beam and high windshield wiper, so they no longer work. *tr

Driving a distance of three miles car stalled five times. started again each time dealership sold me a new battery three days later--acceleration quit, going down the road in heavy traffic. i engaged the accelerator with no response. able to pull over and turn off key and then start again and proceed. dealership told me that the computer showed no problem with the car. two days later the car stalled in my mobile home park, started then stalled and wouldn't start. when i tried to start the car it wouldn't. then when i tried to start again and released the key, the starter grabbed the key and kept grinding momentarily. then when i tried to start it the starter clicked as if it were gone. i parked it for the night and called aaa in the morning. the car started right up and was driven on to the truck.. i was told i needed two parts a starter and something else. that was on monday. it's thursday now and i'm waiting for another part. i was told the dimmer switch had shorted out and had been affecting the whole system. it is now thursday afternoon and my part has been snowed in . there is none to ber had in the whole city of tampa florida! i am a snow bird and am thankful i wasn't on the road to michigan when this happened. losing acceleration and/or stalling in heavy traffic is a very dangerous situation. by the way i didn't trust the century buick dealership i had the aaa garage work on it this time. it cost me $300. the first time ) the second $0.but with no results. now i'm in it for more that $400.00. merry christmas. *ln

2007 buick lacrosse sedan. consumer states major safety defect. consumer reports while driving the engine shut down 3 times for no apparent reason *tgw

Panel lights began to go out one at a time in 2009. the low beam head lights went out one at a time; when replaced , both went out at the same time. after that both high beams went out at the same time and had to be replaced. the driver's door handle has broken twice in 18 months. the transmission began to slip after that. the driver seat belt light often remained on while seat-belt is connected. while traveling on a wet road i attempted to brake prior to a water puddle when the car slid sideways off the road into a soggy-bog and spun 2.5 times in a circle in app. 12" of mud before it stopped, and had to be towed out. presently, the abs service lights remain on, the clock and radio lights are out, the cd player does not function at all, the seat belt light may come on in transit unprovoked, going on and off for the duration of the trip. if cruise control is not turned off when parked the gas needle drops as if there is a leak. if there are no other recalls on this car, there should be! *tr

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 buick lacrosse. the instrument panel indicators and headlights dimmed twice. the second time the failure occurred was while driving 70 mph. when the contact moved the dimmer button, the instrument panel indicators illuminated again, but the high beam headlights illuminated instead of the normal beams. the vehicle was taken to the dealer twice and they found no failures; however, they replaced a part. the contact was unsure of which part was replaced; however, it did not correct the failure. the failure mileage was 49,000 and current mileage was 50,000.

Tl*the contact owns a 2007 buick lacrosse. he stated that the instrument panel lights would not illuminate when the daytime running limps activated. the dealer inspected the vehicle however they were unable to repair because the vehicle was designed that way. the failure mileage was 5,000 and current mileage was 8,000. the vin and engine size were unavailable. updated02-14-08 *bf updated 02/14/08 *tr

Who are we kidding with this recall? (nhtsa 14v355, gm 14299) correcting a faulty ignition switch with an extra key ring and a paper to add to the owner's manual is a lawyer's solution. is this a design defect, or is it not? why is it not adequate? 1) it does not insure that the weight of the keys will not cause shutdown. it only makes it a little less likely. 2) in a year's time, even the current owner's will have forgotten the solution. even if it's in the car's manual, does anyone ever actually read the manual end-to-end?. let alone rereading it regularly to refresh their knowledge? it's only there, if at all, for reference. 3) how many second owner's even get the manual? how many will get keysets with the extra ring? my experience is few, if any, subsequent owners will have any reminder of this recall. let's get serious and be responsible. if there is a design or manufacturing safety defect, then fix it! deflecting liability to the owner is horse-pucky! *tr
