The second annual Elgin “Riverfest Show & Shine” sponsored by the Union County Timber Cruisers Car Club, is scheduled for Father’s Day Weekend, June 13, 14, & 15. Elgin is the “Jewel of the Blue Mountains” in Northern Union County.
The 2008 Show & Shine has been expanded to feature the entire weekend. The “Grande Ronde-A-View Weekend” starts with a Friday evening cruise-in sponsored by Baxter Auto Parts and Safeway. Registration for both the car show and automotive related swap meet will be held between 6 – 8 PM at Safeway’s parking lot, 2111 Adams Ave (EXIT 261 – turn left on Adams, then left again at third light)in La Grande. Goodie bags and dash plaques are guaranteed to the first 100 registered cars. Music, door prizes and food available on site.
Saturday’s Show & Shine will include an automotive swap meet scheduled for 9 am-3 pm. Both will be held on a large ball field, 240 North 10th Street in Elgin, adjacent to a community park. A Poker walk will be conducted through downtown Elgin and many Union County merchants have donated items to be raffled off. Kool 106FM (105.9)will broadcast on site. Twenty-three classification awards will be announced and award plaques presented on the show field including a judged Best of Show.
Elgin Riverfest offers an art show, quilt show, antique engine and tractor show, city wide yard sales and Fireman’s Pancake Breakfast.
A free barbeque for all registered participants will take place at 5:30 PM at Pioneer Park in La Grande. A “Cruise 4 Cash” in La Grande finishes out the evening. Non-participants will be welcome to join for a fee.
Meeting again at Safeway’s parking lot in La Grande on Sunday, all participants will have an opportunity to proceed on a “Poker Cruise 2 View” the Grande Ronde Valley. The poker run route will take you through the cities of La Grande, Island City, Union, Cove, Imbler, Summerville & Elgin, ending up at Hot Lake Springs Resort, home of David Manuel Bronze Casting Foundry and the studio of artist David Manuel. Tours will be available. Plans are continuing to make this a great Father’s Day weekend event for all who attend.

12th annual Car Show and Chili Cooking contest, sponsored by Skills USA students. Event is a fund raiser for students to attend annual state leadership and skills conference at Linn-Benton College.

This event is in conjunction with La Grande’s Crazy Day celebration. We will start the weekend with a Cruise-In at Safeway’s parking lot on Friday, July 10 from 6 – 8.
On Saturday, July 11, the car show will be held on Adams Ave in downtown La Grande from 9 am – 3 pm. Along with the car show, there will be participant games, poker walk, raffle, and an Oregon 150 display, plus other activities happening throughout the day associated with Crazy Days: Fireman’s breakfast, sidewalk sales, three-on-three basketball tournament, Farmer’s Market, to name a few things. A barbeque (two free tickets for participants) will be held that evening from 5-7 pm with a Cruise for Cash following from 7 – 9 pm. Music and live broadcasting will be provided by KOOL 106/Classic Rob 98.7 throughout the day.
On Sunday, July 12, a Poker Cruise around the beautiful Grande Valley will occur. Cars will meet at Safeway at 10 am and free coffee and donuts will be provided.
Join us Sunday August 2, 2009 underneath a real WWII B-17 Bomber! Open event to all classic cars and motorcycles. Show time is 11-3. 13515 SE Mcloughlin Blvd. Milwaukie, OR 97222. Sweet Home, OREGON: On Saturday, June 26, 2010, The Kiwanis Club of Sweet Home is presenting the Sweet Home, Sweet Ride 2nd Annual Charity Car Show for Kids as well as a poker walk utilizing businesses in town as poker stops. Our new location is the site of the Oregon Jamboree. Event is open to all cars, pick ups and motorcycles. Over100 trophies will be given out with many special awards, including Mayor’s Choice, Princesses’ Choice, and Veteran’s Choice, Most Patriotic, Participant’s Choice and 15 Kid’s Pick awards. The Club Participation Award winner will receive $150 for the charity of their choice. The poker walk is open to everyone 18 and over for $5 per hand. Winning hands can earn $150, $100, $75, $50 or $25. Come join the fun, food, music and more.
Entry fee is $20 per car, $15 for motorcycle, includes t-shirt, dash plaque, and one poker hand for first 100 pre-registered vehicles.
